2005 marked the 50th year since the founding of Nanyang University, our predecessor institution that first planted the seeds of knowledge in Yunnan Garden. It was also the year in which all our three new schools, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and Art, Design and Media, operated in full swing. Through a string of events, we celebrated the colourful mosaic and tapestry of NTU, the talents of our students, the achievements of our professors, and the richness of campus life. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong joined 5,000 alumni, faculty, staff and students at NTU's 50th anniversary bash in Yunnan Garden. It was a grand occasion to honour the university's heritage and celebrate its future.
