Tan Lark Sye (simplified Chinese: 陈六使; pinyin: Chén Liùshi) (1897, Fujian, China - d. 1972, Singapore) the founder of Aik Hoe & Co., a rubber exporting firm, President of the Hokkien Huay Kuan and founder of the former Nanyang University (Nantah).
Tan Lark Sye most outstanding contribution was the initiating of the founding of Nanyang University of Singapore. He personally donated a sum of $5 million to its building fund, as well as 523 acres of land for its campus on behalf of the Hokkien Huay Kuan.
In 1953 – 1963, he was appointed as the Chairman of Nanyang University’s Executive Committee. Tan Lark Sye died in 1972 at age 76. To learn more about Tan Lark Sye, visit the Singapore infopedia website.
